# Can you help me write this message?

Turn a rough thought into something you’d actually send—to a friend, a colleague or the family group chat.

## You can start with a messy thought

“I need to tell my friend I can’t make dinner, but I still want to catch up another time.”

That’s enough to begin. You can also paste a draft and say “Help me make this sound a bit better.”

## Tell it who you’re talking to

A note to the family group chat sounds different from a message to a customer. Give the AI that bit of context.

Then say how you want it to feel: friendly, direct, excited, apologetic—or simply “like something I’d actually say.”

## Keep talking until it sounds right

If the first draft is too polished, tell it.

“Less formal.”

“Take out the long introduction.”

“Keep my first sentence.”

“Make it sound like a text to a friend.”

You can ask for two versions if you’re not sure which tone you want.

## Read it once before you send

Check the names, dates and any promises. Swap in a phrase you use yourself.

If you’re sharing someone else’s message, leave out personal details the AI doesn’t need. Then take the draft back to wherever you’re having the conversation.

## Here’s one way to try it

1. Say who it’s for: Tell the AI whether you’re writing to a friend, a colleague, a customer or someone else.
2. Give it the rough idea: A few points are enough. Add what you want the other person to know or do.
3. Ask for the tone you want: Try “warm and casual,” “short but polite,” or “like a message, not a work email.”
4. Make it yours: Keep the parts you like, change anything you wouldn’t say, and send when you’re happy with it.

## Something to type

Help me write a message to [who]. I want to say [rough idea]. Make it [tone] and keep it [length]. Keep these details: [names, dates or other facts]. Don’t add promises I haven’t mentioned. If something’s missing, ask me.

## Worth a quick look

- Have one quick read before sending, especially names, dates and anything you’re promising.
