1. Identify the claim
Split an answer into things you can check. “This is the best option” is an opinion unless it comes with clear criteria. A price, deadline, quotation, or eligibility rule is a specific claim requiring evidence.
2. Open the actual source
Do not stop at a citation or search snippet. Open the page, confirm that it exists, and find the passage supporting the claim. Prefer the organization responsible for the information. A real link may still point to material that says something different.
3. Check dates and scope
Look at the event date and the update date. Confirm the relevant country, product plan, and audience. An accurate statement for one region or subscription may be wrong for yours.
4. Look for what was left out
Check exceptions and ask what evidence would change the conclusion. For decisions with serious consequences, bring the original sources to an appropriate professional. Keep unresolved points visibly unresolved rather than smoothing them into a confident paragraph.
